Building Research Center (BRC) was
founded in 1969 as one of the centers of the Scientific Research
Foundation, which was linked to the Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research. The main objectives of the center were to perform
research projects in the fields of: building materials and structures
through the improvement and utilization of the local sources of raw
materials in these fields.
The center continued to perform its policy after being linked to the
Scientific Research Council in 1980. Scientific and applied consultancy
were provided to many of the major constructional projects in the
country.
BRC joined the Military Industrialization Commission in 1989. Since then
the scope of the center policy was diverted towards the production of
new traditional and non- traditional (i.e. refractories) building
materials. Moreover, the center had undertaken the responsibility of the
quality control assessment for the rehalibitation of many constructional
projects during the post 1991- war period.
BRC was connected with the General Commission for Industrial Scientific
Research and Development in 1994.
